Bayport Minnesota City Information

Nestled along the shores of Lake St. Croix, Bayport is a small city of about 3,200 residents. It first appeared on maps as Baytown Village in 1856, and has held onto its small town roots to this day. For a time, it was known as South Stillwater, a name still used by some locals though the small town was renamed in 1922 and became officially a city in 1973. Bayport prides itself on its quaint, small town charm, friendly atmosphere and the scenic beauty of its bluffs and cliffs.

Residents of Bayport enjoy the lake and its surroundings year round in a wide variety of winter and summer recreational activities. The lake itself offers boating, swimming and fishing, canoeing and kayaking and para-sailing. There are numerous hiking and biking trails throughout the area to encourage outdoor fitness and fun. Although the city is small, there are four city parks within its borders, and the city council is committed to their upkeep and beautification.

Bayport is part of the Stillwater Area School District. The city is served by one elementary school, Andersen Elementary School. Junior high school students attend Oak-Land Junior High School, which is a pilot school for Apple Computer's One to One program, and high school students attend Stillwater Area High School.
