Twin Cities Parade of Homes, Spring 2013

Spring hasn’t yet sprung, but the spring Parade of Homes is in full swing right now! This annual event, sponsored by the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC), opened on March 2 for its three-week run. It doesn’t end until March 24, so you still have two weekends left to check it out!
This year, there are 374 new Twin Cities homes on the Parade of Homes tour. That’s a 22 percent increase from last year. Homes on the tour range in price from $139,999 for a two-bedroom condo in New Brighton to just under $3 million for a luxurious home on a lake in Maple Grove.

A little over 25 years ago, some Minneapolis real estate agents and city officials concerned about suburban migration invited the public into 40 homes to promote urban living. Today, that event is held annually and is known as the Minneapolis Saint Paul Home Tour.
This year's Minneapolis St. Paul Home Tour features 60 Twin Cities homes and occurs this weekend on April 28 and April 29. The unique, self-guided tour is an opportunity for people to see how homeowners have reinvented or rejuvenated older housing stock. It is that time of year. Once again, the Midwest Home Show has made its appearance in the Twin Cities area.
The Midwest Home Show is at the Minneapolis Convention Center from November 18 through th 20. At the event, more than 200 of the Twin Cities’ best remodelers, landscapers, designers, retailers and home improvement specialists will display latest home and garden trends and products throughout its halls. Experts in each aspect home ownership, improvement, remodeling and repair will be available to answer questions.

7th Annual Lake Home & Cabin Show in Minneapolis

Though summer is still a ways off, people who are yearning for a weekend on a (thawed) lake can get a taste of the sunny season at the Lake Home & Cabin Show in Minneapolis, February 11 through 13.
At the secenth annual event, more than 250 exhibitors from across the country will be showcasing everything related to the lake home and cabin lifestyle, including the latest trends in decor, design, remodeling and landscaping. This year's special events include a live bat display by bat expert Rob Mies, an exhibit on loons, an exhibit on loons, and a Saturday appearance by actor/environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. Of course, there will also be the latest and greatest lake toys and recreational products.

Carter Works Project 2010 Descends on the Twin Cities

The Twin Cities branch of Habitat for Humanity and 2,000 volunteers have begun a weeklong campaign to build 26 new homes and spruce up about a dozen others in neighborhoods of Minneapolis and St. Paul hit by mortgage foreclosures.
As part of the the 27th annual Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project 2010, 14 new homes will be built in the East Side Payne-Phalen neighborhood of St. Paul and 12 new houses will be constructed in Minneapolis’s Hawthorne EcoVillage neighborhood in the north. The local initiative is being held in conjunction with similar efforts being held this week in Washington, D.C., Annapolis and Baltimore, Md., and Birmingham, Ala. In the end, about 86 homes will be built or rehabbed across the six cities.

The Parade of Homes will mark its 62nd fall event during its run from September 11 through October 3. The Parade this year will feature about 330 Twin Cities homes in 80 metro region communities that range in price from $144,900 to $3,485,000.
The Parade of Homes is a resource for Minnesotans to see hundreds of new homes. The Parade was designed to encourage prospective home buyers to compare styles, locations, construction techniques and materials. It also helps people to find ideas and inspiration.

Midwest Home magazine has kicked off its 10th annual Twin Cities summer luxury home tour this month.
The tour features 15 upscale homes valued from $900,000 up to $5 million. Homes on the tour are sprinkled throughout the metro, from Blaine to Prior Lake, Minnetonka to Lake Elmo.
“No detail was spared to create these homes,” said Kori Meewes, Midwest Home publisher. “You’ll see everything from an impressive 1,500-bottle wine cellar to secret closet tunnels that connect the kids’ bedrooms to a unique siesta deck.”
