If a picture is worth a thousand words, then in the world of real estate, photos are worth several thousands of dollars! According to REALTOR Online Magazine, "...the more photos a listing has, the quicker it sells." This statement is accurate only when the house is presented in its top form. The article suggests hiring a professional photographer; however, the best photographer in the world cannot make a cluttered room look uncluttered or make a poor furniture layout show like a designer house. The following pictures were actual photos posted on MLS and can be found online at Bad MLS Photo of the Day. BadPhoto1 BadPhoto2 BadPhoto3 Disregarding the sleeping model (let's hope he is sleeping), the shirtless resident (who happens to wear a house arrest band), and the overly accessorized music center (What color were those walls?), buyers will only be interested in these houses for a good laugh rather than for a good home. Statistics show us most buyers will look at the pictures of a house online before scheduling a showing. Positive or negative, buyers will remember the house based on how it appears in the photographs. Before you list your house, prepare your house by staging it, use a reputable photographer such as Dena Hodnett, and show plenty of pictures in your listing. The result will be a faster sale for you!
