Delano has all the amenities a town of nearly 5,000 would be expected to have: a local grocery store, a movie theater, many local retailers, restaurants, bars, even a bowling alley. Delano is located near the 2,200 acres Lake Rebecca Park Reserve, which offers trails, boat launches, picnic areas, creative play areas, boat rental, and more. A major feature of Delano is the Crow River, where residents can fish, boat, and canoe. The city is also working on development along the riverfront and downtown areas. A single-family town home development has recently gone up, which will include a large community park and some mixed-use business, retail and dining space.
Delano has three public schools, Delano Elementary, Delano Middle and Delano High schools. Talks are underway about expanding the school system in this thriving community. Students of Delano Public Schools have exceeded state graduation standards and state test scores for years. A high percentage of graduates continue on to post-secondary education. Many community events are centered around rallying for high school sports, as Delano is a frequent contender in state finals and championship games. Delano also has parochial schools available.
