Excelsior Minnesota Information
Founded in 1853 as a destination for vacations, Excelsior's small downtown and historic ambiance sets it apart from other suburban communities. Throughout the years, Excelsior's Water Street has been the home to many hotels, restaurants, and merchants.
Today, this city works hard to maintain its historical treasures while renewing and refreshing its downtown. Excelsior's antique shops, specialty shops, and restaurants provide a unique ambience as you stroll down its sidewalks.
Excelsior MN has a variety of outdoor recreational activities available to its residents. At the north end of town is Excelsior Commons Park, which has a swimming beach, playground, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and a picnic area. The Minnewashta Regional Park provides 350 acres worth of outdoor fun. The Carver Park Reserve is 3,500 acres including campgrounds, bike trails, and the Lowry Nature Center. The Southwest Regional LRT Trail passes through downtown Excelsior. This biking, walking, jogging, and pet walking trail spans 27 miles from Victoria to Chanhassen.
