Lake Harriet MN Real Estate

Lake Harriet, also known as Harriet Lake is a lake in the south west part of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lake Harriet is just south of Lake Calhoun and Minnehaha Creek. Lake Harriet is surrounded by parkland and is a part of the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes. Lake Harriet has an area of 335 acres.

Lake Harriet is a popular recreation area that offers two beaches, sailing as well as bike and pedestrian trails, which is part of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway, which connects with Lake Calhoun on the north end via the William Berry Parkway as well with the Minnehaha Creek trail system on the south east corner of Lake Harriet trail system. On the north end of Lake Harriet is a band shell which offers concerts throughout the summer months.

A preserved section of the Como-Harriet street car line runs between the west side of Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun.

There isn’t much Lake Harriet real estate to be offered, however in the neighboring communities, the real estate is considered to be prime property due to its proximity to Lake Harriet and the trail system, which offers access into Lake Calhoun as well. The area around Lake Harriet is primarily middle and upper middle class housing, mostly borne during the earlier parts of the 20th century, with fabulous older style homes and beautiful architecture.
