Lake Nokomis, located in the city of Minneapolis, is one of the most visited and enjoyed lakes in Minnesota. Lake Nokomis has 210 acres of water, used for fishing, said to be superior to other lakes, sailboat races, canoeing, and other water sport activities. There are three fishing balconies on the Cedar Avenue Bridge; just above the lake. The lake also has two supervised beaches. A large park, with 195 acres of land, surrounds the lake. Its oval shape accommodates a 2.78-mile excellent bike and walking trail. The distance around the lake is about three miles. There are baseball, football, softball, and soccer fields. The 407 acres of the lake also house the community center. A 13,700 square foot center, built in 1975, offers a gymnasium, meeting rooms, restroom facilities, and a new tot lot playground.
