Minneapolis Neighborhoods

Central, Minneapolis, The location of the Central neighborhood in Minneapolis is predictably right in the middle, with boundaries of Lake Street on the north, 38th Street on the south, Interstate 35 W on the west, and Chicago Avenue on the east. The neighborhood is largely residential, with plenty of single family dwellings and houses for people to inhabit and several low rise buildings for multifamily situations.

The neighborhood is named after the largest high school in Minneapolis, Minneapolis Central, which was built in 1878 and which was eventually torn town. There are still plenty of other amenities in the neighborhood, such as the Hosmer Community Library. This library is part of the Minneapolis Public Library system, and was built in 1916 with the funds donated by Andrew Carnegie. The library was named after James K. Hosmer, the Minneapolis Public Library director until 1904. In 1997, the library got a much needed renovation, and was even expanded for the neighborhood.

Home ownership is on the rise in Central, however the proportion of renters in the neighborhood is still high. Now is the perfect time to look into a home in Central, which is convenient to all other parts of the city of Minneapolis.
