Minneapolis Neighborhoods
The Ericsson neighborhood is located on the southeast side of Minneapolis' downtown area. The affluent residential neighborhood is made up almost exclusively of single family homes and recreational land. The beautiful, exclusive community is home to Lake Hiawatha Park and Lake Hiawatha Golf Course, and offers myriad opportunities for outdoor recreation to its residents and the residents of Minneapolis at large.
The western half of the Ericsson neighborhood is almost entirely made up of recreational land, including Hiawatha Park and the shores along Minnehaha Creek, which runs through the neighborhood and bisects it. The Hiawatha Lake Park Recreation Center is a stunning building built in 1929 and remodeled in 1977. As of 2007, it is undergoing renovation again, but when it is in operation it offers a schedule of year round activities in arts and crafts, dance and education to neighborhood residents.
