Named for Folwell Park, which lies at the center of the Folwell neighborhood, is a residential area that was built in the 1970s. It consists mainly of single family homes on small lots designed to be more affordable. The Folwell Recreation Center, located at Folwell Park, regularly provides activities year round for all neighborhood residents. The regularly scheduled programs include youth mentorship programs, recreation and cooking classes, senior recreation programs and basketball games.

The Folwell Neighborhood Association is active in the community and encourages home ownership and communal responsibility with a loan program for first time home buyers; the also assist with repair and renovation programs for homeowners who update their properties with exterior repairs and invest in beautiful gardens. They even run a volunteer organization that will help elderly and low income residents with exterior renovations.
All in all, Folwell is first and foremost a community, with a capital C. There are ongoing events, community organizations, parks and recreation venues and just pure neighborliness. Part of the Camden area, Folwell puts the neighbor back in neighborhood.
