Minneapolis Neighborhoods
Jordan is a largely residential community located in Minneapolis' northwest quadrant. With a population of nearly 10,000, Jordan is one of the city's largest active neighborhoods and is represented by the very active Jordan Area Community Council. Jordan homes are about evenly divided between rental and owner occupied housing, and the lower than normal median home prices make it an excellent area for young families, working class families and investment properties.
Jordan has a lot to offer its residents. Jordan Park, centrally located, offers a wading pool and tot lot, a playground, baseball and softball fields. The Jordan Area Community Council has recently completed renovations that include new picnic area, shade trees and benches and horseshoe pits. The Jordan neighborhood, along with most of Near North, is widely cited as a neighborhood that has 'turned the corner', where development and community involvement have reclaimed struggling urban communities and turned them into neighborhoods.

Home prices in the Jordan area are well below the Minneapolis median price for single and multi family homes. The housing stock is mostly older homes, many of which have undergone renovations to bring them up to modern codes. The area is on the rise, with home values increasing as renovations and community involvement give the neighborhood a face lift and turn streets that were once too mean to walk into strolls and bike paths that encourage neighborly interaction.
