Keewaydin Minneapolis Real Estate
This neighborhood is situated on the shores of Lake Nokomis and takes its name from the Longfellow poem, Hiawatha, using a name that means "the home wind."
Keewaydin is an active and fairly young neighborhood in terms of population, with most residents falling within the 25-44 age range. Single professionals and young families make up the bulk of the residents, but there's also a large group of seniors and a number of children. The expanse of age creates a diverse and rich community.
The area is home to many quaint single-family homes on small lots. Most of the homes in the area were built between 1920 and 1960, with architectural styles of mini-Tudors, Bungalows, and one story Ranch-style homes.

Keewaydin Park and Lake Nokomis are the center for recreation for the residents of Keewaydin. The park includes baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, a wading pool and tot lot, picnic areas and a walking path.
There are weekend sailing races on Lake Nokomis, one of three sailing lakes in the Minneapolis parks system. The Nokomis Lake recreation area features sailing facilities which include boat launching for city residents. The Recreation Center offers a full menu of services including arts and crafts programs, fitness lessons, community meeting rooms, broomball, basketball, basketball, tennis, football and soccer.
