West of the downtown area of Minneapolis, Minnesota is a neighborhood called Lowry Hill. This area was named for one of the original residents, Thomas Lowry, someone who helped to develop the area. This is an artist's center, as the neighborhood is home to the Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

Lowry Hill is one of the most upscale neighborhoods in the city. The average price of a home in this area has risen from around $360,000 in 1990 to over $450,000 in 2000. The prices are continuing to rise, making this a great place to invest, but the market is soon expected to plateau a bit, so it is important to research investments carefully.

As opposed to some of the other areas on Minneapolis, Lowry Park has a low number of residents as compared to the area. As of 200, about 4,000 people lived in Lowry Park, with a number of business owners also calling this area home. Because the area is close to downtown but also a center for the arts, it is desirable, especially for young adults. However, it is also a nice place to live for families, boosting a great school district and a number of parks.
