Minneapolis Neighborhoods

If you enjoy the thought of relaxing by the river, McKinley may be the perfect neighborhood for you. This community, which is found in northern Minneapolis, Minnesota, lies on west shore of the Mississippi River and was named for President William McKinley, one of the presidents of the United States during the time when this neighborhood was first developed. An elementary school here bears the same name.

At one time, the North River Industrial Area, which stretches along the Mississippi River to Interstate 94, was a part of McKinley as well, but this piece of land officially became its own community in 1996, making McKinley a more residential and less industrial place to live. Most of the homes in this area are original and were build in the 1920s. Singly-family houses are most common, with wooden frames being the norm.

There are a number of parks and business catering to families found in McKinley, making this a nice neighborhood for settling down with a family. You are a bit farther away from the downtown area of Minneapolis, and, thus, the hustle and bustle of that part of the city, but very close to a number of industrial centers where work can be found.
