Nicollet Island and East Bank - Minneapolis Homes and Condos MLS
Located in the heart of Minneapolis, this neighborhood is also considered a historical center for the city, and is part of the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Zone. The vast majority of the Victorian-style homes on the 47-acre island were built between 1864 and 1898. The refurbished Grove Street Flats are another key residential feature of the island, and an expansive city park is located at the southern tip.
With approximately one thousand people, the Nicollet Island/East Bank area is a somewhat sparsely populated neighborhood, but it is certainly a beautiful one, with a relaxed country feel despite its location in the center of the city. Together, these areas have a little of everything-the old Victorian houses on the Island, and new housing developments and refurbished buildings in the East Bank. The peace of the Nicollet Island residential area is a sharp contrast to the eclectic Riverplace, an East Bank collection of offices, retail stores, restaurants and other commercial buildings. Both locations have excellent access to public transportation, the busy Downtown districts, and the University of Minnesota.
