North East Minneapolis Homes for Sale
There is plenty to see in Northeast Minneapolis, which is sometimes referred to as Nordeast. Northeast Minneapolis is located on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River and is across from North Minneapolis and downtown Minneapolis.
Northeast Minneapolis houses the oldest non-native settlement in the city of Minneapolis – Old St. Anthony is located across the river from downtown Minneapolis and is named after Saint Anthony Falls. In 1948, the land was purchased by Franklin Steele and the first commercial mill was purchased at the falls. Soon after, because of the success of the first mill due to the falls as a dependable power source, more mills were constructed and the area donned the nickname Mill City. St. Anthony was incorporated as a city before Minneapolis and the two existed as separate cities until 1872 when the two agreed to merge. Former St. Anthony became Northeast Minneapolis.
