East, Midtown and West Phillips Minneapolis Real Estate
Located directly south of the Minneapolis Downtown district, the neighborhood of Phillips is named after nineteenth century abolitionist Wendell Phillips.
This neighborhood has a mixture of commercial, residential and industrial districts. A number of larger corporate employers are located in Phillips; but the area has no shortage of local businesses to meet residents' needs. The neighborhood was divided into three different areas in 2005: Phillips Midtown, Phillips West and East Phillips. This total area is home to some 20,000 residents.
The area has many older homes dating back to the late 19th century and early 20th century. There are many historic, magnificent Victorian properties in the area. Many still have that unique character, but have been updated to meet the standards of a 21st century homeowner. Phillips also has many newer apartment complexes and duplexes for renters in the area.
