Windom Minneapolis Real Estate

The neighborhood of Windom is located in Minneapolis in the Southwest community. Windom is bordered by Diamond Lake Road and West 54th Street, Interstate 35W, West 62nd Street (Highway 62), Lyndale Avenue South and Highway 121. Highway 62, one of Windom's borders is also Minneapolis' southern city limit.

The neighborhood and elementary school in Windom was named after William Windom, who was a United States senator from Minnesota from the mid to late 1800s as well as the secretary of the treasury.

Approximately 15 per cent of the land of Windom is a sizeable industrial area, however the rest of the community is residential with a few businesses along the way to provide for some amenities.

Windom is perhaps a popular community for its location on the outskirts of the large city of Minneapolis, affording a feeling of a nearly rural area. Parts of the community overlook a vast area where no houses exist on the outermost southern border, allowing for the country-home type of feeling while still living within the city which affords many amenities.
