Community New Hope is home to an expansive collection of some 18 city parks, as well as a nine-hole golf course, an outdoor theater, pool complex, and an ice rink. The Parks and Recreation Department of the city offers recreational activities and programs for all age groups. The city of New Hope also features several community events every year, including youth camps, free outdoor theatre, and an annual festival.

Education New Hope is served by the Robbinsdale School District, which includes eleven elementary schools, three middle schools, and two high schools. Interestingly, Robbinsdale Elementary Schools have one of the most extensive chess programs in the state.

Real Estate New Hope ranked number 18 for the number of homes sold in Minnesota cities for the period of February through May, 2007. The average selling price was just under $205,000. This is much lower than both the state average of $225,000 and the national average of $250,000.

The typical New Hope residence is a single-family home with three or four bedrooms. The condo lifestyle is also popular; however multiple-family dwellings are much less common. Almost half of New Hope residential dwellings were built in the 1960s, and another 25% in the 1970s.
