North Saint Paul Area Information
Founded in 1870 by Henry Castle along the south and west shores of Silver Lake, the city was originally called Castle Site. In 1887, it changed its name to North Saint Paul and was incorporated as a village. The name change didn’t change Castle’s vision of the community that he founded. To this day, it remains a busy center with its own thriving downtown area balanced by shaded streets of the residential areas and neighborhoods.
The thriving business district includes supermarkets, post office, banks, medical center and a wide variety of retail businesses. There are excellent restaurants for nights out on the town, and a casual small town atmosphere emphasized by events like the Fall Roundup, the Historical Society Ice Cream Social and the annual Toy and Mitten Drive sponsored by local businesses to benefit the children of North Saint Paul.
Living in North Saint Paul merges the benefits and warmth of small town neighborhoods with proximity to one of the country’s major metropolitan areas to offer a little bit of everything. It offers easy access by freeway and highway to major shopping and entertainment centers.
