Prior Lake MN Area Information
In a state that is known for its unparalleled beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, Prior Lake stands out for both. Prior Lake, for which the city is named, is located completely within the city limits, and is the one of very few lakes that allow seaplanes on its surface. Even so, Prior Lake is only the third largest of the lakes that make up parts of Prior Lake, offering miles of scenic shoreline for enjoyment and recreation.
In addition to the expected water sports, golfers in Prior Lake have access to a number of nearby golf greens, including the internationally known and nationally ranked The Wilds. Prior Lake is also home to the Mystic Lake Casino/Hotel, run by the Mdewankanton Sioux Community. The second largest Indian owned casino in the U.S., Mystic Lake is a popular nighttime destination for the entire Twin Cities area.
Many of the schools that serve Prior Lake have been newly renovated, and consistently receive superior marks in their task of educating the community children. There are four elementary schools that serve the various neighborhoods of Prior Lake, and one middle and one senior high school. An early childhood education program serves the youngest children of the city, preparing them for their K-12 years.
