St. Bonifacius MN Area Information

One of the biggest draws of the town is its excellent location. St. Bonifacious – or St. Boni as locals tend to call their town - is about a 40 minute drive from Minneapolis. Minneapolis-St. Paul international airport – a major hub for domestic travel – is about 40 miles away.

But the great outdoors is never far away in St. Bonifacious. The town is a few minutes drive from Lake Minnetonka, with its opportunities for boating, sailing, hiking or just relaxing. Lake Minnetonka covers around 14,000 acres and its rather irregular shape provides 200 miles of coastline, including many secluded inlets.

Even closer, is Lake Waconia, just down the road along Route 92. The lake covers around 3,000 acres and offers boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming and picnicking. And winter sees the spectacle of hundreds of ice fishermen take over the frozen surface of the lake.

St Bonifacious is actually a city – although the population is only around 2,000 – and property is fairly sought after here, as the town can’t expand outside its square mile. The average home in the town was worth around $265,000 according to 2005 figures, with an average household income of $71,000.

For a small place, St. Bonifacious and the surrounding area offer a wide range of leisure and cultural pursuits. There’s a lot going on in the town itself – Jaycees, Lions and Legions are all active and anybody in St. Bonifacious will proudly tell you that the town baseball team are past state champions.

St. Bonifacious boasts several parks, made possible mainly by the town’s service organizations. The library system in Hennepin County is considered to be excellent and local schools are among the best in the state. There’s a small industrial park and a new shopping center is being built on Highway 7.

Whether you are just visiting, or are relocating here – St. Bonifacious and the nearby area offers an unsurpassed quality of life and the best of the outdoors.
