Wyoming MN Area Information
There are no large lakes or rivers here, but there are beautiful rolling plains. In fact, the Algonquin word "Wyoming" means "extensive meadows." Wyoming derived its name from the Wyoming Valley of Pennsylvania, a place from which a group of its first settlers came in 1855. Wyoming was incorporated as a village in 1902. Construction of the I-35 freeway propelled the area into a boom period in the late 1960's and 70's, and the village became a statutory city in 1974.
Wyoming MN is served by Forest Lake Area School District 831. Students are supported in their academic efforts by excellent teachers, challenging curriculum, high standards, and a safe learning environment. The school district is enhanced by co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, gifted education offerings, and a full range of special education programming. Forest Lake Area School District is also the largest employer in the area, as it provides work for over 1,200 people.
