Carver Minnesota City Information

Just 32 miles outside St. Paul, the little river city of Carver is the heart of Carver County. This historic Minnesota River community has carefully maintained its small town atmosphere while growing into a thriving suburb of the Twin Cities.

Carver was established in 1854, making it the oldest city in Carver County, and it still retains the unique river bluffs downtown that has made it a popular site for tourists and residents throughout its life. The downtown even includes one of the city's original outstanding buildings - the Temperance Hotel. Carver reveres its past, and shows it with more than 100 structures on the National Historic Register.

Its infrastructure includes a brand new state of the art Fire Station and Public Works Facility and a well-maintained website where residents can find information and communicate with city departments and government.

The parks and recreation department of Carver manages a system of neighborhood and community parks that include ball fields, pools, tennis courts, picnic areas, boat slips, docks and scenic surrounding lands. There are often community activities scheduled, and one of the highlights of the year is the annual Steamboat Celebration, complete with parade, games, fireworks, water fight, sports tournaments and lots of good food and drink.

Carver is part of Independent School District #112, and children in Carver may attend one of the district's 12 schools.

Carver offers the best of both worlds - small town living that brings back the charm and grace of yesterday with all the amenities of living in a thriving, modern community within minutes of the Twin Cities.
