Circle Pines Area Information

In 1946, Circle Pines began as a 1,203 acre cooperative village. The developers foresaw it taking five years to sell all of its shares and finish construction on the project, at which time the developmental control would be given to the residents. However, after three years had elapsed, the co-op idea was pushed aside, because of the difficulty of securing financing and disagreements among leaders. The village lived on, and in Circle Pines was awarded city status in 1974.
