Hudson City Information
Hudson is located between the beautiful St. Croix River and the bluffs of western Wisconsin. Located just 20 minutes east of the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area this area offers wonderful rural options without sacrificing city amenities.
Early pioneers settled near the Willow River, where the present day First and St. Croix Streets are located. Up until 1848, the area was known as Willow River, but was later changed to Buena Vista after the beautiful sights here. The lumber industry brought many settlers to the area, which helped the population grow significantly. Soon after sawmills were all over and industry in the area took off as well.
The St. Croix is widely known as one of the most scenic rivers in the entire country. Eight city parks feature playgrounds, a boat launch, trailer parking area, a band shell and picnic areas. A number of pools are also available, staffed with a lifeguard from June through mid-August. Attractions in the city include a number of inns and golf courses. And of course, you can't avoid the historic downtown streets and browse through some of the most unique and eclectic shops in the St. Croix River Valley!
