The Howe neighborhood is a prime example of community involvement in action. Since 1989, the Howe neighborhood has undergone a substantial facelift. The neighborhood is located along the southeast side of Minneapolis and bounded on the east by the Mississippi River. The homes along the riverside have been largely renovated and upgraded, with further renovations continuing inward from the river toward downtown. The Longfellow Community Council is actively involved in monitoring and directing the renovation of the river gorge and parks along the Mississippi.
