Lowry Hill East Real Estate

As you've probably guessed from the name, Lowry Hill East is the neighborhood found to the east side of Lowry Hill in Minneapolis. Tomas Lowry, one of the first residents of the area, originally developed this neighborhood. It began with his version of public transportation, a horse-drawn streetcar system. This neighborhood is sometimes known as "the Wedge" because of it's triangular shape.

Lowry Hill East has a diverse range of homes, from Victorian-era styles to modest, single-family homes. Some of the more elegant properties of yesteryear have been converted in multiple-unit residences. In recent years, the area has seen larger modern condos and apartment complexes added to the neighborhood.

The Wedge - Homes for Sale and Neighborhood Information

In 2000, there were almost 6,000 residents in Lowry Park East. The majority of these people rent instead of own, so Lowry Hill East is a neighborhood full of multi-unit houses. Many of the houses are original structures built in the early 20th century when the area was first being developed. The residential section of this neighborhood is found in the interior.

The real draw of Lowry Park East are the border streets, which are full of bars, clubs, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and other commercial activity. As compared to the rest of the city, a much higher percentage of people living in Lowry Park East are single. This is a "young" neighborhood; this is definitely a fun and exciting place to live in the city.
