The population of Tonka Bay was 1,475 as of the 2010 US Census. Located a bit more off of the beaten path, there are no major highways that go through Tonka Bay. This adds to the serene nature of the area. Manitou Road is the town's main drag and even this is a quite small street compared to busy city roads. This town is still just 20 miles west of Downtown Minneapolis, making commuting to much of the metro area a breeze.
